Central aspects of pupils' and students' lives - such as communication, entertainment, obtaining information or interaction in social networks - have already been lastingly shaped and changed by digitisation. Such changes in the extracurricular sector mean that school and university education in many cases appears outdated and obsolete because it does not adequately prepare young people for their future in a digitalised world. We support educational institutions in making sensible use of the opportunities offered by digitalization, without ignoring dangers such as cyberbullying, addiction, distraction, data misuse and false information.

What is a
digital classroom?

Digitisation is to be gradually introduced into schools and universities in the form of "digital classrooms". These are to be characterized in particular by stable WLAN access as well as equipment with electronic terminals such as PCs, laptops or tablets. On the one hand, this is a highly complex undertaking, which includes the establishment of a stable IT infrastructure, the acquisition of equipment suitable for teaching, and system, data protection and profile support. On the other hand, it merely creates the conditions for digitised learning to succeed. We support educational institutions both in the conception and implementation of sensible framework conditions as well as in the meaningful integration of digital media and possibilities into classroom design.

The teacher in the
digital classroom

At first glance, it would appear that digitisation is fundamentally challenging the traditional role of teachers. The moment you bring the Internet into the classroom, you open up a limitless space for students to gather knowledge and information. But this does not make teachers superfluous. On the contrary, their responsibilities and areas of competence are growing, as it is their task to familiarise young people with the dangers and opportunities of the digital world and to enable them to make good use of the latter. Teaching and learning are interaction processes that take place between people, cooperative and dialogical. We support teachers in integrating digital media and possibilities into this interaction in a goal-oriented and profitable way.
